Supervises:   None

Purpose

Independently performs advanced diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment.  May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, or Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Mentors Service Technician Trainees
  • Conducts or supports customer clinics
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Accounts for all time and all material used in performing assigned duties
  • May perform diagnosis and repair in the field

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 3+ years of experience performing service repairs
  • Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialty
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
  • Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Advanced Service Technician certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Commercial Drivers License) and fork lift license preferred

Minneapolis Metro dealership is looking for an experienced small engine mechanic to work on Outdoor Power Equipment – lawn & garden equipment – tractors, mowers, snow blowers, 2-cycle hand held, compact utility tractors, and UTV’s.  Individual should be reliable, responsible and trustworthy, and have past experience working in a dealership environment.  This could be a Full or Part time position.  Full Time positions qualify for full benefits after 60-days: Medical, Dental, 401k, Disability, PTO, paid holidays and more.

Job Function

Independently performs basic/complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealership owned outdoor power equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic/complex outdoor power equipment diagnostics and determines what repairs are needed and, if required, consults with customers on the needed repairs of their equipment.
  • Performs basic/complex outdoor power equipment repairs as requested by the Service Manager.
  • Participates in all job-related training and development.
  • Prepares all reports, shop tickets and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere, Toro, Ariens, Gravely, Echo, Stihl and competitive products.
  • Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
  • Assists Customers with loading and unloading of equipment. Will require bending and light lifting.
  • Performs pre-delivery set-up and inspection on new equipment as required.
  • Assists Customers with sales of parts and new outdoor power equipment when needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment and performs job duties with a good attitude.
  • Assists Customers with pick-up and delivery of equipment is requested by Service Manager.

Requirements:

  • Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of outdoor power equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Skilled in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Outstanding inter-personal and customer service skills.

Purpose

Sells new and used small agricultural and turf equipment to new and existing customers.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the company for the sale of equipment to customers
  • Responding to all Online/Social Media leads and requests
  • Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all equipment potentially saleable by the dealership
  • Monitors competitive activity/products and timely communicates to management, accordingly
  • Maintains all customer information for sales management
  • Knows and follows a defined sales process
  • Assists with the preparation and execution of customer events
  • Conducts new equipment demonstrations at dealership
  • Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and timely communicates to management
  • Maintains current knowledge of financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods
  • Attends applicable sales training events/seminars
  • Maintain current knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes

Requirements:

  • 1+ years equipment sales experience
  • Knowledge of small agricultural or turf equipment for operational practices preferred
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some Saturdays (daytime hours only)
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports
  • 2 or 4 year professional selling degree or equivalent work experience
